Building a Better Jeep

Jeeps are built not bought - Every Jeep inevitably gets a few modifications by an inspired owner. Sure, they're great right off the lot, but they get better with age and the addition of various mods and tweaks.

I'm not a mechanic, but I have skills. I can turn a wrench; drill a hole; connect a switch. You probably have some unrealized skills that your Jeep will bring out. I'm going to document the interesting and/or useful projects I complete. I hope it helps you with your project, or inspires you to take on a new project.

Torque Tubes - Headers from Banks Power

A victim of the infamous cracked exhaust manifold, I opted for these headers. The installation is easier than you think.

Axle Tube Seals - Keep your shafts clean.

Low cost for a big improvement over the factory axle tube seals. These are easy on your wallet and even easier to install. Get your grease gun and get going.

Taurus Fan - Electric cooling for your Jeep.

The popular Ford Taurus 2 speed electric fan upgrade. It's a VERY tight fit but it works and the price is right.

Lower Control Arm Skid Plates - A bolt on solution.

The rocks have been eating my lower control arm mounts up front and it was time to get some protection.

KoolMat - The cure for hot foot.

Since the Tummy Tucker, my transmission has been cooking my feet. Time for some serious insulation.

TurboCity Rock-It Intake and K&N Filter

The stock air intake had to move to make room for onboard air. This is quick and easy project.

On Board Air - Kilby Enterprises

You air down for the trial, right? How do you air up? With an on board air system from Kilby you'll air up fast and be able to run air wrenches, too.

Doors Off Fuse Switch

Stop pulling that fuse out every time you take the doors off. Install a switch instead.

Hand Throttle

Make a hand throttle from a bicycle shifter.

High Beams & Fog Lamps - Simultaneous Lighting

Get the factory fog lights to work with your high beams in about 5 minutes.

Tuffy Full Stereo Console - A Safe Place For Your Stuff

A look at the most secure console available for your Jeep. Its easy to install into your Jeep, but installing the stereo may take some time.

Add-A-Trunk Cargo Net - A Better Place

Got an Add-A-Trunk? I repositioned the cargo net to keep things from falling out of the trunk when I open the tailgate. Check it out.

Oil Pan Skid - (nth)°mobility

Protecting my oil pan from disaster on the trail. An easy bolt on product?

Power Steering Pump - Performance Steering Components

Updated with the new PSC mounting bracket that attaches to the brake master cylinder. This pump pushes high volume at low RPM so you're ready for any steering upgrade. I'm going to go back for the hydraulic assist, when I can afford it.

Quick Silver Disconnects - No pins, no bolts, no hassle.

These are not your ordinary swaybar disconnects. These are easy to use, even when you are not on level ground.

Bulletproof Bumpers / Rear Bumper with Swingout Carrier

They're big and bad, and they're back. I was looking for the best bumper I could find. I think I found it.
