Page 6 - Finally Remove Exhaust Bolts! June, 2002
Exhaust Mounting Bolt Manifolds Removed

Figure 11 - Exhaust mounting bolt. Figure 12 - Manifolds removed.
You are now ready to remove the intake and exhaust manifolds. If you have some compressed air you may want to cover any openings and blow the junk off the intake so nothing falls into the engine.

There are three bolts that you should loosen, but not remove. They will support the exhaust manifold while you remove the intake. These bolts are the ones on each end that have an odd head, and the one in the top center of the manifold. The intake manifold rests on a couple of pins. After all but those 3 bolts are removed you can pull the intake manifold away from the engine block, up and out.

Finally, remove the 3 bolts from the exhaust manifold and lift it up and out. Be sure to scrub the gasket area clean before you install the new manifold.

The documentation from Banks is accurate and well illustrated. Installation requires a torque wrench and swivel socket, if those 2 are compatible. The new gasket is nice and thick and you should not need to use any sealant.
