It died. Yes, surprising as it may sound, but a junkyard fan died within 8 months of installation. Well, it was from a car that was 10 years old and had been wrecked beyond repair. Then the fan sat in the junkyard for who knows how long.
To be honest, the fan worked OK, but it was noisy. The controls from dccontrol worked, spinning the fan up when the temperature rose. So the temperature was always rising and falling. Its much more constant with the mechanical fan.
So, that does it for me. This is too critical of a system to trust to a junkyard part. For now I am going to stay with the mechanical fan.
One last word of caution. If you do this mod, store your mechanical fan upright. Do not lay it flat. It wrecks the fluid clutch if you do.
