Bulletproof Rear Bumper

 Page 2 - End Caps July, 2002

The original bumper is bolted to the crossmember by 3 bolts on each side. There are 2 bolts that have fixed heads visible between the bumper and the crossmember. Access to the nut on the inside of the crossmember is impaired by the plastic endcaps on the original bumper. It's fairly easy to remove the endcaps.

Each endcap is held in place by 4 torx screws. There are 2 screws on top and 2 more on the bottom. I had to cut one of them off as it only came out a turn or two before it just started spinning in place.

While you are under there removing the bottom two screws from the endcaps, you might want to loosen the bumper bolts that mount upward from the bottom. I removed these last, as they were easy to turn with one hand while holding the bumper with the other hand.
