Maintenance
Instrument Cluster

There have been at least two occasions when I had to remove the instrument cluster. The first time was to correct the problem with the all of the gauges going off and on. The second time was to replace some burned out bulbs. The cluster is not hard to remove. All you need is a couple of screwdrivers.

I had the windshield down when I took these photos, but that is not necessary. As with most jobs that deal with electrical systems, you should disconnect the negative battery cable.

Vent Cover Knee Blocker
Pry up the dash vent cover. Unscrew the knee blocker.
Using a flathead screwdriver or other suitable wide flat tool, pop out the long thin dash strip that covers the defroster vent. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the knee blocker below the steering wheel. The headlight switch should be able to squeeze through the rubber grommet.
