Jeep Destinations
Got Trails? - Ever search the web for places to take your Jeep? I have. There are hundreds of "Trip reports" out there. The problem with most of them is that they assume you know where the trial is. Mostly, they're a journal of someone else's fun. I am not all that interested in reading 6 pages about how you all managed to get over the same big boulder. I just want to know where it is and what to expect on the trail.
Featuring absolutely beautiful scenic views and moderatly challenging rocks, this is a short trail worth visiting, even if it is 20 miles down a washboard road.
This is another fun trail that has some real challenges depending on the direction you run. Entering from Bouquet Canyon is a challenge. Alternatively, you can enter on the side by Rowher Flats side near Lookout Trail.
We all have to start somewhere, and if you're just getting started, this is the place to go. Not just for this training area, but the rest of the trails, too. There are lots of easy and moderate trails that will help build your skills and confidence. There are campsites and clean restrooms, too.
This is one of the tougher trails I've run around Los Angeles. This is an all day adventure that goes up and down the mountains from Frazier Park to Hungry Valley. Most of the trail is not too hard, but the final ascent is a rutted and rocky challenge.
The granddaddy of all trails. I wanted to run it safely with a decent group of people, so I signed up for the Jeep Jamboree USA event in 2006. I had such a good time I went back the following year.
This was our first real 4x4 trail run since moving to Colorado. We were lead to belive it was a fairly easy run that should take only a couple of hours. It turned out to be a bit rockier than the description, but no really big obstacles. We managed to make it through with a stock Xterra in our small group. The Xterra did need spotting and a little strap help once, but he did make it through most of the trail without any help.
