This trail is north of Los Angeles in the Rowher Flat O.H.V. Area which has approximately 47 miles of marked trails covering 10,000 acres. There are several trails, but only 2 trails marked for Jeeps. An Adventure Pass is not required for green or red-sticker vehicles, but it is required for other vehicles parked in the unloading and picnic areas. There are picnic tables, firepits and barbecues and overnight camping is allowed. There are restrooms at both unloading/picnic areas, but there is no water.
Like much of the local trails, count on it being hot, dry and dusty much of the year. The trail starts past the second unloading and picnic area and it winds its way north and up to the top of the hills. Once at the top you have several options. There is a forest road that winds back and forth down the other side of the hill to Bouquet Canyon Road. Lookout Trail joins Rowher a little north of the top of the hill. You can run down Lookout Trail and go back out to Sierra Hwy. Or, you can continue on Rowher Trail down the other side to Bouquet Canyon Road.
Before you choose, take a few moments to relax under one of the large shade trees, or play on the large rock formation at the top of the hill. When you are ready to move on, if you choose to come down to Bouquet Canyon Road by either the trail or the forest road, you'll notice how they intersect a number of times before you get to the bottom. The trail is steep and can be loose and a little slippery in the heat of summer. If that makes you nervous, the forest road is a nice, easy alternate route down to Bouquet Canyon Road.
